Fire Emblem Engage Review

Reviews

Fire Emblem Engage is a video game with a traditional structure where the player plays as Alear, the child of the Divine Dragon, on a quest to save the world from the Fell Dragon. The story is predictable, and the large cast of characters can be overwhelming, leading to some underleveled characters. The combat is based on tactical tile-based skirmishes and the original rock-paper-scissors-style weapon triangle, with the added break mechanic that causes a defending unit to drop their weapon and be unable to counterattack. The Engage feature allows units to merge with the spirits of past Fire Emblem heroes contained within Emblem Rings to use unique skills and weapons. As the bond between a character and an Emblem increases, they can inherit new skills and permanent stat buffs. Fire Emblem Engage’s depth is mostly built around these Emblem Rings.
