Dying Light 2’s Gut Feeling update brings gory violence, Transmog, and weapon crafting
3 min readTechland has just released a major update for Dying Light 2, titled “Gut Feeling.” The update features a host of new additions and improvements that promise to take the game’s combat, crafting, and aesthetics to the next level.
One of the most notable changes in the Dying Light 2 Gut Feeling update is the enhanced combat system. The update adds detailed dismemberment, allowing players to cut zombies in half and rip flesh out of their enemies’ bodies. The underlying physics of the game has also been improved, with enemies falling on top of each other with proper weight and force, and status effects like burning and electrocution transferring from one zombie to another if they’re close enough. The game’s ragdoll and enemy reaction systems have also been improved, creating a more immersive combat experience.
The Dying Light 2 Gut Feeling update also introduces weapon crafting, handled by the Craftmaster NPCs. Players will have to unlock weapon blueprints while exploring the City, before heading back to the Craftmasters to create them, provided they own the necessary resources. Blueprints are upgradable, and the higher they are, the stronger the weapons will be. The crafted weapons will have randomized affixes, leaving that part of the crafting process to pure luck.
In addition, the update features a new Gear Transmog feature, allowing players to modify the aesthetics of most gear pieces thanks to a new slot called Appearance. This feature adds a new level of customization to the game and allows players to create unique looks for their characters.
The Dying Light 2 Gut Feeling update also introduces a new website called Pilgrim Outpost, where players can activate bounties in-game. Completing bounties yields special reputation points, and as players rank up, they’ll get Pilgrim Tokens that can be used to purchase unique weapons or an Outpost Drop that comes with random stuff, including some crafting materials. There will be six unique bounties every week, and completing them all in time nets bonus reputation points.
Technical improvements have also been made in the Dying Light 2 Gut Feeling update. The Intel XeSS upscaling option has been upgraded to version 1.1, making it the default setting for Intel ARC graphics cards. Additional technical improvements include memory usage optimization, better foliage lighting, transparency, water reflections, specular reflections, ray traced shadows, volumetric shadows, and more.
Finally, a new live event called Viral Rush has been activated in the game, running through May 4th. Completing its goals will unlock the Rahim bundle, featuring two exclusive skins and a weapon.
In June, Dying Light 2 is scheduled to receive another major update that promises to improve the game’s night experience and parkour system. However, the biggest update of the year will come in the form of an open world DLC launching before the end of the year, featuring a new location, new story, and new weapon types.
Overall, the Dying Light 2 Gut Feeling update promises to take the game to the next level, introducing new features and improvements that will enhance the game’s combat, crafting, and aesthetics. The update is available now, and players can dive in to experience the changes for themselves.
